(b) Based on facts and figures which have been made

available to the Committee and the Committee's

knowledge of the operation of these hotels we

recommend that the accommodation rates for "resident

guests" should be $12 to $20 per day for a double

room and $6 for a single room.

We further recommend that 20% of the accommodation

in those hotels be reserved for "resident guests".

(c) Rose Hotel.

We recommend that the accommodation rates for

"resident guests" in this hotel should be $10 per

day for double rooms and $5 for single rooms.

We further recommend that 20% of the accommodation

in this hotel be reserved for "resident guests".

(d) Waldorf Hotel.

We recommend that the accommodation rates for

"resident guests" in this hotel should be $14 to

$22 per day for double rooms and $7 for single rooms.

We further recommend that 20% of the accommodation

in this hotel be reserved for "resident guests".

(e) We are of opinion that the Paramount and Cathey

Hotels should not be brought under control as they

are in the nature of luxury hotels essentially

catering for wealthy Chinese.

We recommend that the rate of $5.50 per day for food

be the maximum which "resident guests" should be

charged.

Service and Extra Charges.

(a) Services. The services normally supplied by hotels

of this type during 1941 should continue.

(b)

Extra Charges. A schedule of permitted charges for

the use of electrical appliances has been prepared

and is attached, Appendix II. The use of any of

these appliances is at the discretion of the Manage-

ment. We strongly deprecate the use of any cooking appliances in bedroom.
